| Setting
unrealistic goals.
People expect the 40 pounds they put on over the years to
come off overnight. It took a long time for the weight to go on so please allow
a reasonable time for it to come off!
Doing exercises with bad form. If
you do exercises incorrectly, you will not get results and you
increase your chance of injury. Get a professional to show you
the correct form for all the exercises you do.
Not stretching. The
best time to stretch is immediately after exercise.
Never stretch cold muscles as stretching cold muscles often leads
to injury, warm them up first!
Not warming up prior
to exercising. Muscles need time to
adjust to the demands exercise places on them.
Start off slowly and increase the intensity gradually.
Not
cooling down after exercising. Take
the time to lower your heart rate before finishing your
exercise
session.
Exercising
too hard. For
weight loss, it's more effective to sustain a moderate workout
for longer periods of time than to
exercise intensely for only a few minutes.
Not exercising hard
enough. You should exercise hard
enough to work up a light sweat and get your heart beating faster.
Eating energy bars and sports
drinks during workouts. Unless you're a professional athlete
, you really don't need high energy bars and drinks.
The extra calorie's they contain only help you to retain the fat
you are working so hard to lose.
Trying to Spot Reduce. You cannot
reduce the amount of fat in any one area, any fat loss is spread
uniformly throughout your entire body.
Exercising Too Frequently. To
much exercise is as bad as to little exercise. Your body needs
"Time Off" to fully recover after each workout.
Not enough variety. A varied exercise
routine will help prevent you becoming bored and then de motivated.
