The Pilates Method Exercise for Life

The Pilates Method represents a unique approach to exercise that develops body awareness, improving and changing the body's postural and alignment habits and increasing flexibility and ease of movement.

The Pilates method of body conditioning is designed to stretch, strengthen and tone the entire body and is excellent for people of all ages and levels of physical ability. Low impact mat exercises are utilized to strengthen the body's core muscles (abdominal's, lower back, upper inner and outer thigh and buttocks) and improve overall physical conditioning and mind/body awareness.

The core fundamentals of the Method are based upon a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the human body. The Pilates Teacher uses this information to create a comprehensive exercise programme for each client with the aim of restoring a greater sense of balance.

It is this holistic approach that sets the Method apart from many other forms of exercise.
Indeed, Osteopaths, physiotherapists and general practitioners are now recommending Pilates as an excellent program for the prevention of injuries. It can also be integrated into rehabilitative programs to speed recovery from soft tissue injuries and is one of the safest forms of exercise available today.

All sessions and classes are taught by a certified Pilates instructor and are designed to condition the whole body and provide a safe, energizing and relaxing workout.

  •  All Pilates equipment is provided
  •  Dress in clothing suitable for exercising
  •  Avoid eating a heavy meal prior to class

If you are interested in taking a Pilates class with Carol, she runs the following courses:

Beginner Mat:

Introduces the fundamentals of the Pilates method and incorporates beginner
and selected intermediate exercises.

Intermediate Mat:

Assumes thorough understanding of the Pilates
fundamentals and the beginner mat.

All required Pilates equipment is provided (Mat,blocks)
Maximum of 15 people per class.

Pilates courses are run in blocks of 6, one per week.
The cost is £30-00 for the complete course payable in advance.
