Recommended Pilates Books

Many of my Pilates clients ask me to make book recommendations. In time I'll write my own book and recommend that :) until then the following books have my approval as they are both safe and effective.

The official Body Control Pilates Manual
Lynne Robinson

I like this book a lot it was one of the first Pilates books I ever bought! It covers Beginners, Intermediate and advanced workouts. The explanations are clear, detailed and the illustrations really help unlike a lot of similar books on the market. One of the unique aspects of this book are the sections towards the end dealing with prescriptions for various types of workers. It shows you for example how to use Pilates exercises to help you in your day to day activities if you are a sedentary worker, stand a lot, drive... This for me is one of the most important aspects of Pilates - actually using it to benefit you in your real life not just in class.
